BMI-certified associate trainer

SBC trainer certification in Business Model Innovation (BMI) at the associate level

BMI trainers are teachers and professionals who enable other individuals and organizations to develop innovative methods to create, deliver, and capture business values. The BMI trainers certified by the Social Business Creation (SBC) program have completed SBC rigorous training to gain critical knowledge in business model innovation and necessary skills in using gamification and experiential methods to coach their students. They have demonstrated success in facilitating learning and encouraging their trainees to identify new opportunities, design value propositions, and develop revenue models and resource mobilization strategies for sustainable business.

Conditions to become a BMI-certified trainer at the associate level

  • Pass the SBC online course on Business Model Innovation (BMI)
  • Pass the BMI evaluator qualifying test
  • Evaluate three teams of the SBC business competition in the BMI round
  • Coach at least one living lab to pass the BMI round

Conditions for certification renewal 

  • Remain active with the SBC business competition in the Business Model Innovation round at least once in three consecutive years and
  • Score the associate-level performance in the BMI round at least once in these three years

Conditions for certification upgrade to the expert level

  • Remain active with the SBC business competition in the Business Model Innovation round at least once in three consecutive years
  • Score at the expert-level performance in the SIG round at least once in these three years

    Conditions for certification downgrade to the foundational level

    • Remain active with the SBC business competition in the Social Innovation Generation round at least once in three consecutive years
    • Score at the foundational-level performance in the SIG round at least once in these three years

    Conditions for certification expiration 

    After three years of being inactive, the certification expires. The trainer must pass through the SBC training-of-trainers program anew to get certified again
