Expertise

As a seasoned business development professional, I have accumulated over 25 years of diverse experience across various sectors. Over the past 12 years, I have transitioned into the NGO sector, where I have successfully implemented projects aimed at promoting youth development and advancing women's rights and empowerment. My expertise in project planning, budgeting, report writing, and documentation has enabled me to effectively supervise projects and ensure their successful completion. Throughout my career, I have actively sought to establish sustainable partnerships with a range of development actors and stakeholders. In doing so, I have facilitated the development of capacity building curricula and provided valuable technical support to MSMEs and Social entrepreneurs, enabling them to identify gaps in their business models and operate more sustainably. By leveraging my extensive experience and knowledge of the industry, I have helped social entrepreneurs strategically align their existing KPIs with SDG targets, identifying risks and opportunities for their businesses' intervention. Additionally, I have assisted these entrepreneurs in defining which sustainable development goals are most critical to their intervention and how to effectively integrate them into their business models and strategic planning.

Motivation for social impact creation

Since I started working in livelihood sector, I discovered my passion for social impact and seeing the successful changes in other’s life. And when I started judging for SBC, I found many triggers that motivated to keep on and try to get more involved in this community, I here below stating some of these triggers; 1) My personal values and beliefs to make a positive impact on the society. 2) My social responsibility and persistence to contribute to a greater good. 3) My desire to create positive change in the society, therefore even in my personal project I aim to cover many social perspectives.

Contributions to the SBC community

Being a part of the SBC community is not only an opportunity for me to share my values but also to guide and mentor other social entrepreneurs, something that I have been doing in my professional life for the past 10 years. It is also aligned with my personal values of giving back to society and making a positive impact. While serving as a judge, I was able to provide feedback to the participants, but as a member of the SBC community, I hope to make a more direct and meaningful contribution towards creating a positive change in the society.

Research interests

I am eager to explore a broad and significant topic that relates to our core values and beliefs. One research area that I have proposed is the comparison between Legal and Ethics, which encompasses two seemingly simple terms but has profound implications. This topic can prompt us to examine our views on various issues and how we define ethical conduct.

We can pose several questions to ourselves to determine what we consider ethical, even if we have legal entitlements. For instance, when we see a green traffic light, we are permitted to drive, but what if an elderly woman is crossing the street slowly? Do we accelerate and intimidate her, or do we wait patiently for her to safely reach the other side? This scenario illustrates how we must make ethical decisions beyond legal compliance in our daily lives. Through research, we can explore various aspects of legal and ethical frameworks and their intersections. By raising awareness and promoting ethical practices, we can contribute to building a more just and compassionate society.

Current research projects

When it comes to decision-making, ethical considerations and legal requirements are two different factors that individuals or organizations need to take into account. While ethical decision-making involves considering what is morally right or wrong, legal behavior refers to actions that comply with existing laws and regulations.

In order to evaluate the human perspectives in defining the differences between ethical decision-making and legal behavior, it’s important to understand that there can be overlap between the two. For example, there are some actions that are both legal and ethical, such as providing aid to someone in need.

However, there are also situations where ethical considerations and legal requirements may conflict. For instance, a company may be legally allowed to engage in certain practices that harm the environment, but from an ethical perspective, it would be wrong to do so. Similarly, an individual may have the legal right to say something hurtful or offensive, but from an ethical standpoint, it would be inappropriate to do so.

One important distinction between ethical decision-making and legal behavior is that ethical considerations are often based on personal values and principles, while legal requirements are determined by the law. This means that what is considered ethical can vary depending on the individual or group, while legal requirements are typically more objective and universal.

Another important difference is that ethical considerations often involve taking into account the impact of our actions on others, while legal requirements are primarily focused on avoiding negative consequences for oneself or one’s organization. For example, a company may be legally required to disclose certain information to investors, but from an ethical perspective, they should also consider the impact that withholding information could have on other stakeholders, such as customers or employees.

Overall, while ethical decision-making and legal behavior are related concepts, they are not the same thing. Ethical considerations involve evaluating what is morally right or wrong based on personal values and principles, while legal behavior refers to actions that comply with existing laws and regulations. In order to make responsible decisions, individuals and organizations must consider both factors and strive to find a balance between them.
