Proposal

  1. Problematic : We, in Canada and worldwide, are currently facing a number of issues linked to the epidemiological transition towards chronic illnesses (anxio-depressive disorders, substance-related disorders, obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, back pain, etc.). Chronic illnesses are known to be complex biopsychosocial issues requiring multidisciplinary and individualized approaches. The chronic care model by Wagner (1998) recommend educational and prevention initiative towards general population and patients to help them gain health literacy and symptoms recognition/management techniques. However, those initiatives still need to be more study and refined. Chronic illnesses are a major public health issue that create immense individual, social and economic burdens, overwhelming the healthcare system and dehumanize care. They demand urgent innovation in prevention and care model. Also, heath prevention initiatives are still less valued than curative approach and there is a like of cohesion and collaboration between organization.
  2. Solution : Our projet is an innovative, collaborative and social change initiative that aims to rethink our approach to health promotion and prevention, which is traditionally oriented towards healthy lifestyle and how-to guides. However, we all live in an incredible but complex vehicle, the human organism, and it’s not always easy to understand or talk about what we are feeling physically or mentally, nor the resources to take action. Therefore, what we offer is an experiential media, a digital magazine and events that stand out by their empowerment approach. Instead of telling people what to do, we guide them and help them to reclaim their human organism, to become more familiar with its physicality, the forces that animates it, its diversity of experiences and fluctuations, so that overtime people feel increasingly confident and better equipped to make choices aligned with their needs. We also stand out by our hybrid knowledge transfer approach (theoretical and practical), which adapts to each individual. Our content is practical, nuanced, easy to digest and created in collaboration with recognized experts in the field. Our events are designed to facilitate bidirectional exchanges and social support in a pleasant, safe and professionally guided environment.
  3. Social impacts : Our project supports several of the United Nations’ goals, such as facilitating access to good health and well-being, quality education and sustainable communities. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but the ability, within one’s individual limitations, to meet one’s own needs, to achieve one’s potential and to contribute to one’s community, a definition to which we subscribe.
