Cyril comes from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines.
He graduated with a degree in Political Science from Foundation University, Dumaguete City. Cyril also finished a Certificate in Professional Education from Presbyterian Theological College. Presently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration from Foundation University also. Cyril works in the Social Innovation space to empower the youth to become the next wave of changemakers, social entrepreneurs, and community movers. Last September 2022, he participated in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative – Professional Fellowship Program on Economic Empowerment and was assigned to the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Global Innovation Labs. During his YSEALI Fellowship, he was able to visit and learn about various institutions located across different states in the US.
He also represented the Philippines in the YSEALI Economic Empowerment Summit last December 2022 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Last 2020, together with fellow teachers, he led the development of an idea generation and validation course called TEE (Technology, Environment, and Entrepreneurship). Currently, he serves as the Director of Innovation Programs of Foundation University. He oversees the innovation programs of FU that are founded on 3 pillars of idea generation, idea-stage incubation, and community solutions. His office is actively providing opportunities and a safe space for students to innovate and create solutions to problems that we experience today.
This year, he has been chosen to be part of the Youth Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative – Philippines National Council or YSEALI AMPLIFY. The cohort is running programs to engage the Filipino youth and empower them to create positive impact in their respective communities.
