Bio
About | I’m Orange Silverio, a digital marketing strategist turned entrepreneur with a passion for driving innovation in the aquaculture industry. Leveraging my expertise in digital marketing, I founded Tambanokano Aqua Farm to revolutionize traditional mud crab farming practices and promote sustainable aquaculture solutions. We build condominiums for mud crabs and use rescirculating aquaculture system to fatten mud crabs and make them thrive in a controlled environment. My overarching goal is to foster environmental stewardship while empowering communities through access to high-quality seafood products.
Throughout my career, I’ve demonstrated a knack for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking, leading to notable achievements such as winning the Trailblazing Creative Disruptor Special Citation at the Benilde Alumni Technopreneur (BeAT) Awards 2024. Additionally, our company’s commitment to social advocacy in supporting local fishermen has garnered media attention, with features in prominent outlets like Rappler, the New Channel, and Luzon Regional News Group.
My motivation to join the SBC community stems from a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share my passion for sustainable innovation. I believe that by harnessing the power of technology and entrepreneurship, we can drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for generations to come, one crab condominium at a time. |

Research
Research | Looking for collaborators |
Research interests | In addition to exploring crab condominiums, I am also deeply interested in integrating aquaponics into our recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). This innovative approach combines aquaculture (the farming of aquatic organisms) with hydroponics (the cultivation of plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. By incorporating aquaponics into our RAS systems, we can maximize resource utilization, enhance system efficiency, and promote sustainable food production. Aquaponics allows us to utilize the nutrient-rich wastewater from fish farming to fertilize plants, which in turn purify the water before it is recirculated back to the aquaculture tanks. This closed-loop system not only minimizes waste and environmental impact but also enables us to produce a diverse range of crops alongside our aquaculture operations. Furthermore, aquaponics offers potential benefits such as increased crop yields, reduced water consumption, and enhanced resilience to environmental fluctuations. By exploring the integration of aquaponics into our RAS systems, I aim to unlock new opportunities for synergistic food production, ecological stewardship, and socio-economic development in aquaculture communities. |
Current research projects | We are pioneering the first RAS hatchery in the Philippines, our current research project is poised to revolutionize the supply chain systems within the aquaculture industry. By implementing advanced recirculating aquaculture systems, we aim to address key challenges faced by traditional aquaculture operations, such as limited availability of high-quality seedstock, seasonal fluctuations in production, and environmental sustainability concerns. Through the establishment of a reliable and efficient supply chain network, we seek to enhance the resilience and productivity of the aquaculture sector while ensuring the consistent delivery of fresh and sustainable seafood products to consumers. Our research endeavors are not only focused on technological innovation but also on driving positive social and environmental impacts throughout the aquaculture value chain. |

Teaching
Teaching experience | As a tribe leader at the Freelance Movement Tribe, I’ve been imparting knowledge and skills in freelancing, which is highly relevant in today’s gig economy. Additionally, my previous teaching roles at the Social Media Academy and Skilz.com, where I coached individuals in social media management, Pinterest marketing, and freelancing, demonstrate my expertise in these areas. My combined experience in teaching and coaching is an asset that enriches my profile and underscores my ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and empower others with practical skills. |
Teaching philosophy and method | My teaching philosophy revolves around the principle of experiential learning and empowerment. I believe in creating an environment where students are active participants in their own learning journey, rather than passive recipients of information. To achieve this, I employ a blend of interactive lectures, hands-on activities, and real-world projects. By providing practical experiences and opportunities for application, I aim to foster deep understanding and skill development. Furthermore, I prioritize personalized instruction and mentorship, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student. I encourage open dialogue, collaboration, and critical thinking, creating a supportive and inclusive classroom community where individuals feel valued and empowered to express their ideas. In terms of methods, I utilize a variety of teaching techniques, including group discussions, case studies, multimedia presentations, and role-playing exercises. I leverage technology to enhance learning experiences and facilitate remote instruction, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all learners. Overall, my goal is to inspire curiosity, cultivate confidence, and equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset they need to succeed both academically and professionally. |
