Vision and Mission:
The target social issue
- The systemic oppression and discrimination faced by girls and young women in Vietnamese society is an urgent issue, especially because two primary factors exacerbate these challenges: Familial Dynamics and Societal Norms.
- The social landscape in Vietnam presents stark disparities in gender roles and opportunities, as evidenced by statistics reflecting unequal participation in domestic work and education, as well as concerning rates of emotional violence and postnatal depressive symptoms among women.
- According to CARE (2021), men’s involvement in domestic work stands at 83.7 percent, notably lower than women’s participation rate of 96.6%. This disparity extends to the informal economy, where women earn only 50 percent of male incomes, reflecting broader gender-based economic inequalities. Vietnam’s sex ratio at birth was 112 boys per 100 girls in 2021.
- According to the study “Introduction and Labor Market in Vietnam” by the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Vietnam, women spend an average of 20.2 hours per week cleaning the house, washing clothes, and cooking. and going to the market, taking care of the family and children, while men only spent 10.7 hours on these tasks.
- Vietnam’s family and social culture are the result of these.
It depends on the familial Dynamics:
- Globally, over 2.7 billion women face legal restrictions preventing them from having the same job choices as men, as the World Bank Group’s Women, Business and the Law research reports. This imbalance in household duties limits women’s education and career advancement opportunities. Additionally, 1 in 3 women globally experience physical or sexual violence, mostly by an intimate partner (UN Women). This prevalence of violence further exacerbates the oppression women face. Compounding these issues, 60% of illiterate individuals worldwide are women, which significantly limits their access to education and economic opportunities (UN Women).
It depends on the social Norms:
- In the workplace, 20% of Vietnamese women perceive their salaries to be lower than those of their male counterparts (Indochina Research, 2023). This perception is supported by broader participation trends, where for every male in the Vietnamese labor force, there were only 0.89 females in 2016 (Statista, 2023). Gender disparities are also evident in leadership, with women holding only 27.2% of senior positions (Plan International Vietnam, 2022). In the field of science, gender parity is far from being achieved, with only 20% of countries reaching a balance where 45% to 55% of researchers are women (UN Women). These societal norms and workplace inequalities illustrate the systemic barriers that prevent women from achieving equal status and recognition in professional settings.
Following examination, we determine certain effect levels—individual, family, and community—that are brought about by unfavorable internal and external factors.

Social Solution Idea
Alph Lady envisions a society where gender equality is the norm, and women have equal opportunities to thrive in all aspects of life. Based on our extensive research on gender disparities, their root causes, and the impact gaps, Alph Lady aims to create a competitive advantage by addressing these issues through a holistic approach. Utilizing a social constructionist model, we tackle gender inequality both at the individual and societal levels. We focus on empowering women by providing access to education, economic opportunities, and leadership roles, while also challenging and transforming societal norms that perpetuate gender biases. Our initiatives are designed to foster an environment where women can achieve their full potential, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive society.
- We provide motivational workshops with useful activities like painting, ceramics, and other crafts, making it simple to engage with today’s youth, who range in age from 15 to 25.
- Additionally, we provide art therapy workshops to promote healing and reduce stress, especially for those who struggle to verbalize their emotions.
- Alph Lady’s “Girls Support Girls” campaign fosters solidarity among women and girls through peer mentoring, community events, and successful female representation.
Alph Lady’s short-term goals are to help women overcome these obstacles by fighting social stigma, reducing gender inequity concerns, and offering easily available tools. Following that, to enhance general health outcomes, productivity, and quality of life, we work to change cultural perceptions around gender equality.
Among them are:
- Providing programs to enhance women’s skills and knowledge, enabling them to pursue higher education and professional careers.
- Advocating for policies that promote gender equality and safeguard women’s rights in all aspects of life.
- Establishing support groups and networks to offer emotional and practical assistance to women experiencing discrimination or other challenges.
