UN goals:

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) declares “tourism has the potential to contribute, directly or indirectly, to all of the goals”

Nonetheless, our project will emphasize on following goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 8. Decent work and economic growth
Goal 11. Sustainable cities and communities
Goal 12. Responsible consumption & production
Goal 13. Climate action
Goal 14. Life Below Water
Goal 15. Life on land
Goal 17. Partnerships for the goals

On Trippe Nature (OTN) seeks to create an ecosystem connecting all stakeholders involved in the tourism industry value chain. On this basis, we head towards the goal of institutionalizing regenerative tourism as the new paradigm.

Social challenge:

In general, the tourism industry faces several challenges:
-Promote standardization of our society which leads to cultural identity loss (Mariani, et al., 2015; Christin, 2017)
-Unequaled redistributions of economic growth (Imbsen et al., 2021),
-A lack of public awareness regarding good practices when traveling (Lansky, 2019),
-A lack of awareness of the industry suppliers regarding how to instore good practices in their organizations (secondary data throughout interviews)
-Put at stake the world’s health by spreading diseases (Liu, et al., 2022)
-Drive scarcity & misuse of natural resources (Imbsen et al., 2021),
-Accountable for 11% of global carbon emissions (Imbsen et al., 2021),
-Destructions of natural ecosystems (WWF, 2022),
-Artificialization of nature (Mora, 2022)

Therefore, there is an urgent need for change!

Solution idea:

On Trippe Nature aims to address unsustainable tourism practices by promoting regenerative tourism, prioritizing collaboration, community, abundance, culture, and well-being over personal interest and profit. The social solution idea is to provide consulting services to tourism businesses, helping them implement regenerative practices in their operations, followed by building a platform to showcase their initiatives and connect with conscious travelers. We want to change the paradigm of tourism as a social engineering. On Trippe Nature targets travelers, tourism industry professionals, and local communities, aiming to educate and raise awareness to promote positive social and environmental outcomes. The challenge is to measure the impact of the solution effectively, so they are exploring collaborative approaches to co-create metrics. By helping businesses shift to regenerative tourism practices, On Trippe Nature seeks to reduce the negative impact of tourism on local communities and the environment and create a more responsible travel culture.
