Social Challenge:

  • The problem 1: According to an analysis by Business Insider, fashion production comprises 10% of total global carbon emissions, as much as the European Union. It dries up water sources and pollutes rivers and streams, while 85% of all textiles go to dumps each year.
  • The problem 2: Vietnam has a century of traditional garment textiles. Its process is friendly with environment and doesn’t harm for our health. But there is still a gap between citizens consumer and the local artisan craft. The Vietnamese consumer nowadays doesn’t have much intention in the traditional & natural textiles. It could be the result of fast fashion commercial.
  • The placement: rural areas in Vietnam, the minority tribes.
  • People affected by the problem: the local artisan in rural areas, the small local business in rural areas
  • Severity of the problem: the local artisan & local business doesn’t have much opportunity to growth or stay sustainability that effect directly to their income. And the fashion waste, pollution from industry is continue increasing rapidly.
  • The actions: Green Cat be inspired by natural materials from local people and have a desired to be a part to contribute in promoting traditional textiles into the worlds and bring the traditional textiles get closer to consumer, mostly in young generation. And together we could do something better for the planet to reduce waste and balance the pollution in the industry.
  • Social Idea:
    1. Focus on natural textile materials & recycled materials to jointly develop a sustainable fashion industry.
    2. Empowering women with economic autonomy has been accompanying Green cat. A sustainable close loop from investing in raw material seed to output consumption and finished product processing (also known as the production and consumption chain model)
    3. Encourage generic expressions of mutually supportive business-to-business to grow strongly together in a supply chain that is consider hardly sustainable when standing alone.
