Proposal

Kon Tum is a mountainous province in the Northern Central Highlands region with a population of about 535,000 thousand people. Kon Tum province is a convergence of many ethnic groups, of which 6 indigenous ethnic groups are Xe Dang, Ba Na, Je – Trieng, J’Rai, B’rau and Ro Mam making up the majority, with many unique cultural customs, creating a rich and colorful cultural picture. Most of the area of Kon Tum province lies in the west of the Truong Son range, the terrain gradually lowers from north to south and from east to west. The terrain is quite diverse: hills, plateaus and lowlands alternate. In which: Hilly and mountainous terrain: accounts for about 2/5 of the entire province’s area, including continuous hills and mountains with slopes of 150 degrees or more. The mountains in Kon Tum are made of ancient metamorphic rocks, so they have a block shape like the Ngoc Linh block (with Ngoc Linh peak 2,598 m high). Along with the farming practice of clearing forests, burning forests for farming, not gathering together of ethnic minorities also occurs regularly, leading to the increasingly narrowing of old forest areas. Besides, the people still lack knowledge about agricultural techniques, and their agricultural output has not found an outlet. Leading to the mentality of not knowing what to do for a living. Life is still mainly based on growing cassava (economic value is unstable, many years of cultivation leads to soil degradation and erosion) and exploiting forest products.

Realizing that the problem lies in farming practices, agricultural techniques and crop orientation. As a child of the land of Kon Tum, I wish to contribute my part to protecting the forest and changing the living habits of the people. Replace short-term crops with industrial crops such as Arabica coffee in the direction of multi-layered forest garden biodiversity. Combined with the development of community tourism, creating sustainable livelihoods for people.

Through this competition, we also hope that the above project will receive advice from experts to help the project become more and more complete. Besides, we also want to access capital sources from organizations. International organizations, accompany and support us on our journey to green Ngoc Linh Mountain and help the lives of ethnic minorities become more and more stable.
