Social Challange
The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) 2021 food waste index report showed that the world is facing food waste. Every year globally, people waste up to… 1 billion of food, equivalent to 230 billion USD. Some other reports also pointed out that 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions are related to unconsumed food. Meanwhile, Vietnam is currently the second country in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of food waste index? Up to 8,8 million tons of food are lost or thrown away each year, equivalent to 2% of GDP. Typically in households, the main cause of this waste is the lack of control in food purchasing as well as the calculation of reasonable portions when preparing food. Although food waste still happens every day, there are still many people living in poverty, and having enough food every day seems like a luxury to them.

Social idea
Faced with the above situation, the Fridggie Vietnam project with a food management support application was born as a comprehensive solution that opens up opportunities for green and healthy living for households. Through a series of useful functions: scanning food identification, menu suggestions, consumption statistics, information portal providing environmental knowledge,…users will be significantly supported in food management as well as updated useful news about the environment and food.

With the motto “Cut Waste, Boost Taste”, Fridggie Vietnam promises to become Vietnam’s leading application in promoting sustainable consumption for the health, environment, and prosperity of the community.
