MAYPAPERFLOWER Project Description

I. MAYPAPERFLOWER DESCRIPTION:

“Paper flower is not just for decoration, it is a combination of cultural values containing enthusiasm, meticulousness and love in it”, according to the artist. Inherited and inspired by the traditional craft village of Thanh Tien paper flowers art more than 300 years of age, Maypaperflower is a Vietnamese pioneer social enterprise in promoting the preservation of our country’s traditional arts, as well as the cultural and spiritual values ​​of Vietnam. Maypaperflower’s products are perfect combinations of traditional paper flowers and contemporary art, which are environmentally friendly, contributing to orienting customers to use green products. Not only that, during 3 years of operation and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the business also successfully supported the development of the local economy and solved the employment problems for disadvantaged groups – people with difficult circumstances, disabilities, unemployment, especially women.

II. TARGET SOCIAL ISSUES:

  • Eroded Vietnamese traditional arts & crafts
  • Inequalities & unemployment status of disadvantaged people (especially women)
  • Toxical art pieces are damaging both the environment and the owners’ health

III. OUR SOLUTION:

With the one-liner social mantra “Blooming papers – Thriving lives – Changing world”, Maypaperflower aims to tackle the mentioned social issues better than any existing social business. With the adequate expertise and resources to address, our business aims to create 3 main social impacts, including:

  1. Preserve Vietnamese traditional arts and cultural values
  2. Create job opportunities and solve income problems for disadvantaged people and Vietnamese artists
  3. Orient customers to use eco-friendly products

IV. CONTRIBUTION TO THE SDGs: Our solution aims to follow 5 Sustainable Development Goals provided by the United Nations, including:
