Description
Blank Stage Performance Association believes that education and acknowledgement are the fundamental steps of resolving any world issue. However, simple informational workshops are unable to spread the awareness of important issues to a wide enough width. Thus, we chose artifacts such as stories and entertainment performances as the medium to carry our mission to a high altitude. To summarize, we wish to resolve social issues at the fundamental level by spreading the awareness of important social issues through the medium of numerous entertainment performances such as lives, musicals and more by various artists.
Each performer will select a “mission” which is relevant to an important social issue and a non-profit partner of their choice that contributes to the chosen “mission”. Then, while performing they will have the opportunity to inform and educate the importance of the chosen “mission” through talks and performances. At the end of the performance, an amount equal to the agreed upon remuneration for the performer will be donated to the chosen non-profit partner. (achieving sustainable development goal: 17 and potentially all other goals depending on performer’s choices)
Social Challenge
In our society, the vast majority performs “passive engagement” towards important social issues, this means that people somewhat acknowledges the importance of social issues such as the ones listed in the sustainable development goals, but are only willing to spend little to no effort in changing their life styles or paying attention to the issue. This is because their daily life doesn’t seem impacted by the ongoing issues and the knowledge regarding these social issues are presented dully. After all, making changes to an individual’s habit to counter act social issues require substantial effort and only an extensive understanding of the issues or making countering the issues easy would allow some individuals willing to take action.
Social Solution Ideas
To deepen the understanding and make countering the issues easier for the general public, Blank Stage Performance Association aims to utilize influential stories in the form of entertainment activities and performances in order to have individuals gain a deeper understanding through in-taking knowledge regarding important social issues.
To do so, Blank Stage Performance Association hosts events such as live performances, festivals and more that allows performers who are also engaged in spreading awareness on social issues to use their influential powers to reach the end goal of educating people on one social issue that concerns them. This can be done in 3 ways:
1. Performers selects a “mission” and a non-profit partner of their choice that contributes to the chosen “mission”. And at the end of the performance, an amount equal to the agreed upon remuneration for the performer will be donated to the chosen non-profit partner.
2. Performers takes some time during performances to inform the audience about the “mission” they chose and why it is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
3. Performers performs pieces that delivers a message aligning with the “mission” they chose.
Compared to the traditional route of informing important social issues, integrating the messages within festive activities and atmospheres allows people to be more willing to listen, understand and perhaps act on the given social issue.
